Really Good Stuff is a junk store in the best sense of the word. When you walk up, you’ll be greeted by a legion of rusty bikes parked outside (all of which are for sale, of course) alongside a completely random assortment of stuff. There may be a Heywood Wakefield buffet, there may be an old vacuum cleaner.
Once you walk in, you’ll find a fairly large, supremely cluttered shop with piles of stuff piled on top of piles of stuff, furniture stacked in the corners, and a generally somewhat musty aroma. This is not a store for the faint of heart, and certainly not a store for anyone who needs to have stuff merchandised nicely before they can appreciate it! The front room has everything from guitars to china to jewelry to postcards to random “found object” junk, and the larger back room is where most of the furniture lives.
Pricing is a little on the high side of what you’d expect (especially given the total lack of presentation), but never fear, I have found them to be very accommodating of reasonable offers (the exception being if a piece just recently came in). The quality of stuff here is definitely hit and miss – but it’s “hit” enough to warrant a pass through every so often. RGS has the added advantage of being located right next to Lounge Lizard, one of my favorite shopping destinations, so it’s very easy to make a pass through after I’ve had my Lounge Lizard fix.
